The Next Stop
The SKBs
EP and download of four tracks available now.
The Next Stop is The SKBs' difficult second album - and they've leaned into the challenge.
Following the unexpected but warmly welcomed success of Where This Leads Us, The SKBs return with 11 new tracks that are tighter, more confident and more rock-focused. The core collective is back - songwriter Al Sharp, producer Tom Donovan, vocalist Sara Davey and drummer Leon Cave (Status Quo) - delivering a stronger, more focused set of songs.
There is still plenty of variety and warmth, but the direction feels clearer. The Prying Eye brings a swaggering rock-pop disco pulse, while Sanctuary leans into classic rock territory. For those who loved the gentler moments of the debut, Ronnie from the Train offers a straight-ahead country feel, while Change tips its hat to modern country influences.
Elsewhere, the gloves come off. Crazy Place and the anthemic Ready to Go are full-blooded rock songs built for volume, momentum and the open road.
The Next Stop doesn't try to outdo the debut - it sharpens it. It's the sound of a collective that knows exactly what it is: experienced players, honest songs and no rush to be anything other than real.
Just real people, making music.
